NEWS: On The Move... Chlout Siberian
huskies is moving to new digs in the lower 48, specifically
the State of Minnesota, Grand Marais. I'll be leaving what I
call my home state of 38 years but returning to an area and
state that my family always touristed in when I was a kid.
It "WAS" a big vacation for them. Shae grew up not to far
away in Babbitt. We will be living in Cook County southwest
of Grand Marais about 7 miles. Our new home is large enough
and has a private sleeping area for guests. We are off the
grid, on 40 acres, bordered on 3 sides by Forest Service
land. The house has wood heat, propane heat and is also
solar powered. We are getting the solar system upgraded so
the house will function just as if it were on the grid. It
will take some exploring to learn the trails and Forest
Service roads literally out our door. In addition computer
access is through "dial-up" but we are getting set up for
satellite. I do not have an address yet and do not know the
telephone # yet, but we do have one. Hard copy mail send to:
Bob Chlupach, POBox 1497, Grand Marais, MN., 55604. Though
there will be about 3,000 miles separating Rick Outwin and
I, we will continue operating the kennel as we have in the
past. Simply, just a new venue. However, as each of us gets
older there are fewer things we can do with real liquid
mobility so likely our breeding program will be slightly
more tethered sometime in the future-----hopefully a ways
off. Also, please put some thought into whatever way you
choose and wish Rick a steady recovery as he had has other
knee replaced earlier in October. It is the "cow-pies"
getting older.
We are hoping to
have a Siberian weekend sometime in the fall of next year.
At the gathering I'm suggesting that everyone attending
bring their history lessons with them. We will keep it like
a coffee table discussion, talking about everything from
history (bone up, eh?), feeding, breeding, training and
racing. We also hope that if I can figure the logistics out,
bring your dogs and we can do some early morning runs. Of
course, if this comes off, we will need some help in the
areas of cooking but I am also envisioning a big picnic in
the evening or some such thing. A little early to be
sticking my neck out but with the right karma and display of
interest perhaps it can come off AND by the way, there will
be "NO" experts in attendance, get my drift? Informal the
operative, information from all a plenty.
In the interim,
the coffee is always on and as usual it will be hard to
catch me near a telephone, most people have better luck
through siber-space. We hope to be on the road October 27
latest October 28.
