This website is
dedicated to Kodiak's Jetfire or “Jet”.
Jet joined our family December 2004.
Braeburn Siberians began in the summer
of 2004 and so Jet was a member of our
first team. Already being an experienced
sled dog, he taught us much about the
ins and outs of running dogs, but most
importantly, he shared his own joy of
running with us. He completed
innumerable runs, always demonstrating
all that is good in teamwork and
camaraderie. He was leader for
Elizabeth, then 11 years old, in her
first two 15 mile races; the Craftsbury
True Companion Race in Craftsbury, VT
and the Stratford Nighthawk's Sled Dog
Race in Stratford, NH. He offered his
respect and friendship to our quiet
Spyder and the two became the firm yet
gentle alpha team of the kennel. Both
being experienced trail leaders, they
also often ran lead together. Jet
offered us his friendship and trust,
sharing many hours with us in our daily
life; running errands in the car,
supervising cooking in the kitchen,
snuggling on the couch and digging
enormous holes that he redug as quickly
as we filled them up in a kind of game.

Jet came to us from Ann
and George Cook of Alkas'iber Siberians
in Campton, NH,where he had spent most
of his life devoted to both Ann and
George and to dog sledding. His parents
were Kodiak's Flyer II and Kodiak's
Aspen II. Flyer was a well known and
respected dog and a very popular sire
from White Water Lake and Anadyr lines.
Aspen was from White Water Lake lines.
When he came to us, the plan was for him
to become a sire and so to pass on the
quickly disappearing pure White Water
Lake line. However, it was not to be.
While running, as he loved to do, he met
up with a car on the kind of open trail
we call a road. He passed into the next
world in the blink of an eye, leaving
behind his gentle, wise, happy and
generous spirit. Through his
affectionate nature, sense of humor and
strong work ethic he cemented our
addiction to all that is magical and
inspiring about the Siberian Husky.
While his physical presence is gone, he
continues to be with us as the spirit
guide of our kennel, always with us in
whatever we are doing (especially
running). We miss you Jet. This website
is for you.
